Description
No. 19 Merton Road is a house built in 1742, as indicated by the datestone, with an extension added in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features wooden lintels, topped with a plain-tile roof and brick stacks. It has a two-unit plan that has been extended to three units. The house stands two storeys tall and has a three-window front. The two bays on the left are the earlier sections and contain two-light casements on both floors, with one ground-floor window being wider than the others. The added bay features similar wider casements and has the entrance located at the junction. All ground-floor windows are adorned with chamfered lintels. The roof has stacks on either side of the earlier range and on the gable of the added bay. The datestone on the earlier section is inscribed "3/FP/1742" and has a moulded drip. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
