Description
Home Close is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled thatch roof, which is half-hipped at the rear, along with stone end stacks. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear left wing and is one storey high with an attic, presenting a two-window range. The façade includes timber lintels above a central 20th-century door and 20th-century casement windows. The swept dormers feature a late 19th-century three-light casement window on the right and a 19th-century horizontal sliding sash window on the left.
Inside, there is a cased beam on the right and a stop-chamfered beam on the left, with stop-chamfered beams and joists in the rear section. A 18th-century plank door with strap hinges is located next to a 17th-century winder staircase, which has fret-cut splat balusters on the right side of the rear range.
