Description
The Old Vicarage is a vicarage that has been converted into a house, built around 1743 for Reverend Richard Hawkins and extended in 1847 for Reverend Vaughan Thomas. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with external end stacks made of stone finished in brick. It has a three-unit plan, with a rear outshut that was extended in the mid-19th century to create a double-depth plan. The structure is two storeys tall with an attic and presents a symmetrical front with three windows, which includes raised storey bands. A timber lintel spans the French windows located in the central doorway, which is flanked by mid-19th century square bay windows. The windows are wood-mullioned and transomed, featuring leaded lights, while the second-floor windows are set in gabled half dormers with stone slate gables. The mid-19th century rear wings have plain tile roofs and brick ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
