Description

Mead Farmhouse comprises a mid-17th to late-17th century range to the left, and a mid-18th century main range. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with gabled stone slate roofs. It has end stacks of stone finished in brick and a brick ridge stack.

The main range is symmetrical, featuring three bays and a three-window frontage. A mid-19th century two-storey porch sits centrally, with a chamfered round-arched doorway and 20th-century double doors. Above the doorway is a canted oriel window with leaded lights. Late 19th or early 20th century two-light casements are set beneath timber lintels. Two 18th-century gabled roof dormers contain two-light leaded casements. The left range is of similar construction, also two storeys with a two-window range. It features a 17th-century ashlar jamb around a 18th-century two-light leaded casement to the left, along with a 20th-century door and windows beneath timber lintels. A one-storey service wing, also 18th century, connects to the left. A mid-18th century service wing extends to the rear, built of similar materials and incorporating a tall 18th-century two-light leaded casement and a brick ridge stack.

Internally, the farmhouse includes panelled shutters and doors, and a beam and remodelled open fireplace to the right.
