YARNTON CHURCH LANE (West side) Terrace walk and attached gazebo, walls and gateways to W of Yarnton Manor
GV II
Raised terrace walk. Early C17, mostly by Thomas Garner c.1895. Retaining walls of squared and coursed limestone and coursed limestone rubble, with chamfered stone coping to front and buttresses. Ball finials surmount limestone ashlar piers and stone-coped steps which rise from garden to terrace walk. Early C17 ovolo-moulded doorways, one with shaped pediment, to north-east and south-east corners at front. Late C19 gazebo of stone ashlar in south-west corner, in Jacobean style with ball finials to shaped gable, and round-arched doorway. To rear, steps with Jacobean-style pierced balustrade rise to arched gateway with shaped gable; across terrace walk to rear of gateway is early C17 moulded-arched doorway with shaped pediment. Terrace walk encloses garden to rear of Yarnton Manor (q.v,).
