Description
The terrace and garden walls and gates at Wexcombe House, originally known as Wexcombe Manor, date from the 18th century. The terrace wall is located on the main south-east side of the house and is constructed of brick with stone copings, standing 1.8 metres high. There are brick steps located off centre, accompanied by a brick balustrade. The wall curves at both ends, featuring half-round brick copings. On the north-east side, there are gate piers and gates made of rusticated limestone ashlar. The piers are octagonal with chamfered splays, topped with heavy moulded caps and pineapple finials. The gates, dating from the 19th century, are made of cast iron and include palmette javelins and dog rails.
