Description
Wexcombe House, also known as Upper Farm, is a farmhouse dating from the later 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features tiled roofs. The building has two tall storeys and consists of two identical wings, each with a hipped roof and a central link. The wings are two-storey and have two bays, with shaped gables and central oculi. There are side stacks on the wings. The ground floor windows are 19th-century French doors with three-pane fanlights. The central block has twelve-pane sash windows with slightly segmental heads, and similar windows are found on the first floor of the wings. There is a three-bay rear wing extending from both the east and central blocks, with the latter further extended. The interior has not been seen. The farm is notable for the agricultural improvements made by A. Hosier, including the Hosier Bail milking system and a poultry folding system.
