Description

Paternoster Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the early 17th century, with the right half remodeled and extended to the rear in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with squared and coursed stone on the right side, and features gabled stone slate roofs. There is a 17th-century ridge stack made of stone finished in brick, and an early 19th-century brick end stack on the right.

The farmhouse has a four-unit plan and is two stories high with a two-window range on the right side. This section features stone lintels above an early 19th-century six-panelled door with an overlight, along with 6-pane and 8-pane sash windows, including a 20th-century horned sash window on the first floor to the right. The left range is one story with an attic and also has a two-window front, which includes timber lintels over a 17th-century three-light wood-mullioned window with an iron opening light and 20th-century French windows, as well as 19th-century four-light half-dormer casements.

At the rear, there are similar early 19th-century sashes on the right, a 19th-century outshut on the left, a 19th-century three-light leaded dormer casement, and a 17th-century gabled two-story porch at the center featuring a pointed arched chamfered doorway. Inside, the farmhouse has stone flag floors, early 19th-century panelled doors and shutters, stop-chamfered beams on the left, and a room to the right of center that includes a 17th-century chamfered pointed-arched fireplace.
