Description

Castle View is a small house built in 1757, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed from coursed squared marlstone with ashlar dressings and features a Stonesfield-slate roof with brick end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high. The symmetrical front has three windows and an ashlar storeyband, with a central four-panel door located below a small inserted window. The outer bays contain two-light casements, all of which are topped with ashlar segmental arches and projecting keyblocks. On the first floor, to the extreme right, there is a moulded keyed oval panel inscribed with "H/IM/1757". The roof has a moderate pitch and includes gable parapets. The interior has not been inspected.
