Description
Number 1 (Straws) and Number 2 are two cottages built as one, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions. They are constructed of brick and feature steeply pitched thatched roofs, with brick stacks at each end. Each cottage has a single-unit plan, with 20th-century extensions added to the rear and the right gable end. The buildings are two storeys high and have a two-window range for each cottage. There are two entrances, each with gabled or thatched hoods and either plank or panelled/glazed doors, supported by wood lintels. The ground floor has 20th-century windows, while the first floor features four 2-light metal casements set in wood frames, complete with wrought-iron casement fasteners. These cottages are included for their group value.
