Description
School Cottages are a pair of cottages built in the late 18th century. They are constructed of clay brick with lath and plaster facing, and some areas are finished with plaster only. The cottages have thatched roofs and feature one central chimney stack along with one external chimney stack on each side, all made of red brick. The buildings are one storey high with attics and have two grey slate dormers that contain 19th-century casements. The front has a window arrangement of 1:2:1, featuring 19th-century small paned vertically sliding sashes or 19th-century casements with central transoms. Each cottage has a centrally located vertically boarded door; the left cottage has a small slanting canopy with brackets, while the right cottage has a pent ice board above its door. Inside, there are original rear staircases, doors, surrounds, and dados.
