Description
The Red Lion Public House is a building that was originally a house and cottage, now functioning as a public house, located on Red Lion Street in Cropredy. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The structure is made of squared coursed ironstone and coursed ironstone rubble, topped with a steeply pitched thatched roof, featuring brick ridge and end stacks.
Originally, the building had a two-unit and one-unit plan and stands two storeys tall, with a total of four windows across its facade. The entrance is off-centre to the right and features a 20th-century door with a thatched hood, accessed by three steps. To the left of the entrance, there is a two-light metal casement window and a 20th-century window. On the right side, there is another 20th-century window with a chamfered wood lintel. The first floor includes three three-light and one two-light metal casement windows set in wood frames, all with chamfered wood lintels. The windows feature crown glass and wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs. The interior has not been inspected.
