Description

Furnace Mill Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th century, with extensions made in the early 19th century and late 20th century. The building features red and blue chequered brick on the ground floor and is weather boarded above, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of two parallel ranges and stands two storeys high on a plinth. The roof has a paired modillion eaves cornice, with stacks located to the left and projecting at the right end and to the rear.

Originally, the house had a regular arrangement of windows, featuring two tripartite glazing bar sashes on each floor, with a central single glazing bar sash on the first floor. The entrance door is made up of six panels and is set within a moulded projecting surround topped with a flat cornice hood. An extension to the left adds one bay, which includes a glazing bar sash on the first floor and French doors on the ground floor. To the right, a late 20th-century wing is recessed and features a tripartite glazing bar sash on the first floor and plate glass on the ground floor.
