Description

Tongswood Farmhouse is a house likely dating back to the 17th century or earlier. It is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding, set upon a brick and stone base. The rear wing has tile hanging above a sandstone ground floor. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section to the left, and stacks positioned centrally to the left and at the right end. The house's layout follows a lobby-entry plan.

The front elevation features a plinth and two storeys, with three leaded wooden casement windows of four lights on each floor. A smaller window with two lights sits above the front door, which itself features six raised and fielded panels and a flat hood supported by brackets. A basement opening leads into a brick-lined open passageway on the left return. A catslide roof extends to the rear, and a two-storey rear wing possesses a half-hipped roof.

A brick wall, approximately three feet high, with buttresses, rounded corners, and coping bricks, projects forward to enclose the front garden.
