Description
Milestone located at 723 396 on the B2079, dating from the 18th century and altered in the mid 19th century. It is made of painted stone and features a mid 19th century iron plate. The stone has a pyramidal head and stands about 2 feet high, with a segmentally headed plate inscribed with the distances: Maidstone 11¾ miles and Marden 4 miles. The Goudhurst, Gore and Stilebridge Turnpike Trust was established by an Act of 1765.
