Description

Miss Margarets Zan Restaurant is a building that dates from the 18th century and early 19th century, located on the south side of Rye Road in Hawkhurst. It features a timber frame and is weather-boarded above a painted brick ground floor and basement. The structure has three storeys, a central stack, and a garret. Notably, there is a three-storey canted bay on the gable end, with sash windows and glazing bar sashes on the ground floor, including a central glazed door. A small sash window is present in the garret. The right side of the building has irregular window arrangements, including two wooden casements, a single and a tripartite glazing bar sash on the second floor, and a combination of single and tripartite glazing bar sashes, along with a 20th-century oriel window on the first floor. Additionally, there is a single-storey multi-pane shop extension on the ground floor.
