Description

This house, dating from around 1800, is located on King Street, Southwell, and has been used as flats and a shop. It is brick-built with a hipped slate roof and a single rear wall stack. The windows are mostly glazing bar sashes with splayed, rendered lintels. The three-story building has a three-window range on its south-facing front. The ground floor has three sashes, with three smaller sashes above, all unevenly spaced. A moulded 19th-century door with a plain overlight sits slightly off-centre. To the left of the door is a single sash window, and to the right is an irregular canted bay window with two sashes. The street front has a rendered plinth and a band running along the first floor. It features two windows, the left one being blank. Above, the fenestration is similar with smaller windows. A late 19th-century wooden shopfront is present on the right side of the ground floor, featuring a recessed door and a corniced fascia supported by brackets.
