Description

Burgage House is a late 18th-century building that now serves as a youth and community centre, with adjoining boundary walls. There is a mid 19th-century addition that connects the rear wing to the former coach house. The structure is made of brick with stone dressings and features a hipped slate roof. It has a plinth, rebated eaves, two gable stacks, a single side wall stack, and three rear wall stacks. The building stands three storeys high and has a three-window range of glazing bar sashes, with the flanking windows being tripartite. The layout is L-shaped, and on the second floor, there are similar windows but smaller in size. The central entrance features a doorcase with solid cheeks, an open pediment, and a six-panel door with an overlight. On either side of the entrance are single tripartite sashes. The right side of the building has a shallow two-storey bay window, which contains a tall glazing bar sash above and a smaller sash in a round-headed opening below. The front boundary wall on the right has stone slab coping, while on the left, there are two blocked round-headed doorways, extending approximately 20 meters in length. The rear boundary wall also measures about 20 meters long and features a stepped brick coping, with a round-headed close boarded door on the right.
