Description
The Wheatsheaf Inn is a public house located on King Street in Southwell. It was built in the early 18th century and has undergone alterations in the mid 19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, with the front being roughcast and colorwashed, and features concrete tile roofs.
The front elevation includes a plinth, first floor and eaves bands, moulded eaves, and coped gables. It has a single gable and a single ridge stack, and is two storeys high with a two-window range in an L-plan layout. The front has two 20th-century casement windows. To the right is a recessed 20th-century doorway, and to its left are three additional 20th-century casement windows.
At the rear, there is a two-storey wing that features two large glazing bar sash windows facing south. To the right of this wing are two doors, and to the left is a casement window, all of which are from the 20th century. The interior has been altered but retains chamfered beams in the ground floor rooms.
