HAWKHURST CRANBRROOK ROAD TQ 73 SE (east side) 10/298 Rose's Farmhouse 20.6.67 GV II

House, now cottage pair. C15, extended C16. Timber framed and clad with weather-boarding and tile hanging with some exposed frame to rear and to right return with plaster infill. Plain tiled roof. Probable hall house, converted to continuous jetty lobby-entry plan. Two storeys on sandstone and red brick base, with extremely uneven continuous jetty and hipped roof with gablet to left, projecting and offset stack to end left, and stack cluster to right. Five 2-light and two 3-light wooden casements on first floor, and 1, 2, 3, 3 and 2-light wooden casements on ground floor with half-glazed door to left, boarded doors to centre left and to right, and to rear and right returns. Catslide outshot to rear. Interior: lozenge set mullioned windows preserved to inside of outshot. Large scantling frame visible, and crown post roof reported to older (left hand) range, and 3 surviving bread ovens.
