Description

Rose's Farmhouse is a house, now divided into two cottages, that dates back to the 15th century with extensions from the 16th century. It features a timber frame clad with weather-boarding and tile hanging, with some exposed frame visible at the rear and on the right side, along with plaster infill. The roof is plain tiled. The building likely started as a hall house and has been converted to a continuous jetty lobby-entry plan. It stands two storeys high on a base of sandstone and red brick, showcasing an extremely uneven continuous jetty and a hipped roof with a gablet on the left side. There is a projecting and offset stack on the left end and a cluster of stacks on the right. The first floor has five 2-light and two 3-light wooden casement windows, while the ground floor features 1, 2, 3, 3, and 2-light wooden casements, a half-glazed door on the left, and boarded doors to the centre left, right, and at the rear and right returns. A catslide outshot is present at the rear. Inside, lozenge set mullioned windows are preserved within the outshot. The large scantling frame is visible, and a crown post roof is reported in the older left-hand range, along with three surviving bread ovens.
