Description
The Manor House, formerly known as Limes Grove, is a house from the early 18th century located on the north side of Gill's Green in Hawkhurst. It features red brick construction with tile hung return elevations and a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys tall, with an attic and basement, and includes a plinth, a plat band, and a moulded wooden dentil eaves cornice on its swept half-hipped roof. The roof has a moulded and filleted stack cluster at the center and three pedimented dormers.
The house has a regular arrangement of windows, with seven wooden casements on the first floor and five on the ground floor, all featuring segmental heads, along with a French window on the left end. The basement has segmentally headed openings. The central door consists of four raised and fielded panels topped with a glazed panel, set within a fine doorcase that has fluted pilasters, a triglyph frieze, and a cornice.
Attached to the left end of the house is a red brick wall that stands about six feet high and extends approximately 30 yards in length. The left return of the wall is tile hung, and there is a truncated offset stack. The rear of the house features a hipped two-storey wing with a weather-boarded lean-to outshot.
