Description

Kemp’s is a house dating back to the 15th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is timber framed and has tile hanging, covered by a plain tiled roof. The house originated as a Wealden hall house, and features a rebuilt 19th-century bay, a 2-bay hall, and a 2-bay service/parlour wing. It is two storeys high, with a jetty to the right-hand bays, and eaves carried on brackets to the two left-hand bays. The roof is half-hipped, with a stack cluster located centrally to the left. To the left, the house steps down to a two-storey gabled wing with a stack at the end. The first floor has three 3-light wooden casements, two single casements, and one 2-light casement. The ground floor has French doors, two 3-light casements, a single casement, and a 2-light casement. A rib and stud door is located centrally to the left. A section is outshot to the end of the right.
