Description

This is a pair of houses located on the south side of Rye Road, Hawkhurst. They likely date to the early 18th century. The ground floor is timber-framed and faced with red brick, while the first floor is tile-hung, with weather-boarded return elevations. The houses have a half-hipped roof and a brick stack centrally located on the left side. The front elevation features six wooden casement windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor. A half-glazed door is positioned to the left, and a boarded door is situated to the right, both within a projecting hipped porch with an open section, set on a sandstone base. Leaded casement windows are found in the garret level.
