Description

These cottages, numbered 2 to 4, form a row dating back to the 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The construction is timber-framed and clad in weatherboard, set upon a painted brick base. Later extensions incorporate red and blue chequered brick and tile hanging above red brick. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The cottages are arranged in an L-shape, with two storeys on a plinth and brick stacks located centrally to the right and to the projecting wing on the right-hand side. The first floor features two wooden casement windows and one metal casement. The ground floor has a metal casement window and a half-glazed door with a gabled hood to the left. A projecting brick wing to the right has an entrance on its return side and a raked porch. This wing contains three wooden casement windows on each floor and was extended by one window bay in the late 20th century. The cottages are part of a larger row, alongside those in Charlwood, and are included on the register for their group value.
