Description
Weeks Bakery is a shop and restaurant located on the north side of High Street in Goudhurst. The building dates back to the 16th century, with alterations and cladding added in the 18th century. It features a timber frame that is clad with red and blue brick, and the first floor is tile hung. The roof is plain tiled and has a lobby entry plan.
The structure is two storeys tall with an attic, set on a plinth, and has a parapet on the hipped roof that slopes to the right. There is a moulded stack with an arched recess on the centre left. A flat-roofed central dormer is present, along with two two-light and two central three-light leaded metal casements on the first floor. The ground floor has two three-light metal casements inserted into smaller gauged openings, and to the right, there is a 20th-century plate glass shop front with an integral glazed door. A half-glazed door to the left has a flat hood supported by brackets. At the rear, there is a canted three-storey wing.
Inside, the full frame is visible, featuring chamfered jowls to the uncambered tie beams, and many of the timbers are of large scantling.
