Description

This is a house, now used as a shop and restaurant, dating back to the 16th century with later alterations in the 17th and 19th centuries. It is timber-framed and the first floor is tile-hung, with a moulded wooden eaves cornice to the left side. The roof is tiled with a half-hipped cross-wing on the right, and there are brick stacks in the centre and to the left. Two flat-headed dormers are visible on the left side. The building has two storeys and attics, with an irregular three-window front, including a window in the gable to the right. The window arrangement is two-by-one, with tripartite sash windows on the right and casement windows on the left. A 20th-century double shopfront is on the ground floor to the right, with a central glazed door set within it. A late 19th-century double shopfront is on the left, featuring colonette framing and a boarded door. A panelled door is located on the left side, incorporating a glazed upper pair of panels. Inside, heavy timber framing is visible on the ground floor to the left, along with exposed joists and beams. Note: a modern door, consisting of a stable half and half door, has been added.
