Description
62 Saddler Street is a shop that dates back to the early 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 18th century and the 20th century. The building features red brick with applied timber-framing and has a plain tile roof with a brick chimney. It is a single bay, four-storey structure. The ground floor has a 19th-century shop front that includes a plate glass window and a glazed doorway on the left. The upper three floors are obscured by false 20th-century timber framing, with each floor featuring a single three-light glazing bar sliding sash window.
Inside, there is a late 18th-century turned baluster staircase that runs through the lower two floors, and above it, there is a 17th-century winder staircase. The two upper floors have three pairs of upper crucks, which include collars, purlins, and halved rafters on the ridge.
