Description

Nos. 43, 43A, and 44 on Saddler Street is a house that has been converted into shops and offices. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building features painted incised stucco with painted ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof with a brick chimney. It stands three storeys tall and has three bays.

Greek Doric columns support segmental arches over a central recessed group of three doors, with shops on either side. The left shop door and the central house door have three shafted panels, while the right shop door is double and has four panels. The left shop includes four rows of five panes that curve into the door, and the right shop has four rows of eleven panes curving into its door. The frieze and modillioned cornice are decorated with droplets. There is a segmental-headed passage entry to Drury Lane on the left side.

The upper floors feature sash windows, some of which have been renewed, and all have glazing bars. The top floor has projecting stone sills, and there is a brick chimney at the right end. A square gas lamp is mounted on a bracket over the doors.
