Description
No. 26 Elvet Bridge is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the late 18th century, with a shopfront added around 1900. The exterior features painted incised stucco with painted ashlar dressings, and it has a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. The building stands three storeys high and has two bays. The shopfront includes a bracketed fascia and a dentilled cornice, with a central raised segment above the door. The upper floors are adorned with sash windows that have glazing bars on the first floor and later 19th-century sashes on the second floor, all set within wide architraves and featuring projecting stone sills. The corners of the building are accentuated with chamfered quoins that have raised centres, and there is a modillioned cornice at the top. A chimney is located at the right end, supported by S-shaped reinforcing bars. The building is included for its group value.
