Description

No. 16 Elvet Bridge is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was built in the early 19th century, with the shop front added around 1900. The building is constructed from sandstone ashlar with painted dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. It has three storeys and two bays. The shop front includes a half-glazed double door that is recessed to the left, with slender pilasters framing the windows. The left entrance wall and soffit are panelled, and Tuscan pilasters support a pulvinated frieze adorned with ball finials on brackets. The upper floors are fitted with sash windows that have glazing bars, flat stone lintels, and painted projecting stone sills. The building is included for its group value.
