Description

Nos. 10, 11, and 11A Elvet Bridge are two houses that have been converted into two shops, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of painted English garden wall bond brick with painted ashlar dressings and feature a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. The front of the building is curved in plan and consists of three storeys with five bays.

The left shop has been altered, while the right shop, dating from the early 19th century, has two internal steps leading up to a central recessed glazed door. Fluted pilasters flank the doorway, and the windows beside the door and in the front bow windows have glazing bars. An entablature with a modillioned cornice and an open pediment is above the central two bays, although the left two bays have been removed.

To the right, there is a four-panelled house door with an overlight featuring glazing bars. The upper floors contain three wide sash windows with glazing bars in the three central bays, some of which have been renewed. The narrower end bays have a sash window on the first floor to the right, while the other windows are blind. All windows are topped with wedge stone lintels and have projecting stone sills. The curved roof has two ridge chimneys. Inside, each unit has a rear newel stair.
