Description
Mill Street House is a house consisting of two sections, located in Benenden. The rear part dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century and was originally an open hall house with a cross wing. The front section was built in the early 19th century. The rear range is timber-framed, featuring a steeply pitched hipped tiled roof and a late 16th century brick chimneystack. The front range has a ground floor made of diaper brickwork, with the first floor tile-hung and a tiled roof that includes end brick chimneystacks. The house is two storeys high and has three windows. The 19th century windows are mullioned and transomed casements. There is a central doorcase with a flat wooden hood above a six-panelled door. An arched brace is visible on the first floor, along with old floorboards.
