Kerrys

Kerrys is a house that was formerly two structures, dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, with later alterations. It has a rear wing and is two storeys high, featuring a hipped red plain tiled roof. The building is timber framed and plastered, with modern pargetting. The ground floor has four ranges of small paned casements, while the first floor has three ranges. There is a six-panel door with lights and a flat canopy supported by brackets. The mid-15th century has two red brick chimney stacks. The front range, originally jettied to the right, dates from the 14th century. The high-quality rear wing from the mid-15th century includes cambered tie beams and a stop-chamfered main frame. Late 16th-century chimney stacks have been inserted, along with original fireplaces. The first floor was replaced in the late 16th century, featuring stop-chamfered joists and bridging joists. The roof was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries, reusing some sooted rafters from the open hall.
