Description
Wandle Mill is a water mill located on Mill Street in Benenden. The original part of the mill dates back to 1821, with extensions added in the early to mid 19th century. The building features Flemish bond diaper brickwork and a timber-framed structure that is clad in weatherboarding. It has a slate roof that is half-hipped to the north. The northern section of the mill stands three storeys tall with attics and has two window openings, which still show remnants of sash windows on the side elevation. The front of the mill includes one window opening, a hoist opening on the first floor, and a double door at ground level. The early to mid 19th-century extension to the south matches the original materials but consists of only one bay and is three storeys high with a lower elevation. At the rear, there is a cast iron undershot mill wheel.
