Description

The Laurels, comprising numbers 1 and 2, is a cottage dating to the later 16th century. The lower portion of the building is constructed of red brick with a random rubble plinth and a tiled coping. The upper floor is characterized by exposed timber framing with plaster infill, incorporating some curved braces. The roof is tiled, with a hipped section on the right and a half-hipped section on the left, featuring a large gablet. A central stack rises off the rear ridge. The cottage is two storeys high, with a four-window arrangement to the first floor and a three-window arrangement to the ground floor. There are two 20th-century boarded doors, one at the extreme right and one centrally located. A wing extends to the rear on the right side. This building has group value in that it contributes to the character of the area.
