Description
The Laurels is a house located on Sand Road in Wedmore, dating from the 17th century with later alterations in the 18th century. The building features roughcast walls, a moulded cornice, and a parapet with plain coping and coped verges. It has an I-shaped slate roof and later brick stacks. The architectural style is Gothick, and the house is two storeys tall with an attic, consisting of three bays. The first floor has 2-light casements with decorative glazing bars, while the ground floor has similar French windows. There is a central door opening with a 4-panelled door, where the top two panels are glazed. To the right, there is a lower outshut set back in a conforming style, consisting of a single bay. The forecourt wall is made of coursed and squared rubble with dressed coping, ramping down from the right. To the left, there is a gate opening with coursed and squared rubble piers topped with ball caps, and paired wrought-iron gates.
