Description

The Close is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed with roughcast rendering, and has a triple Roman tile roof with coped verges and rubble end stacks topped with moulded caps. The house is arranged in an "L" shape.

The two-story main block has three bays, with 3-light casement windows on the first floor featuring horizontal glazing bars, and large 3-light transomed casements on the ground floor. All window openings are set within cambered reveals. A central door opening is accessed via a plank door with a glazed panel, sheltered by a metal tent-canopy hood supported by twin cast-iron posts, with wooden latticework to either side.

A rear wing features a hollow-moulded stone mullioned window with a stopped label, alongside a further casement window to the first floor, also beneath a stopped label. The interior retains some panelling.
