Description
This is a barn located 30 yards to the west of Paddlesworth Old Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century at the north end and was extended to the south in the 18th century at nearly right angles. The barn is timber-framed and weatherboarded, standing on a brick plinth. The northern section has a plain tiled roof, while the main southern range features a corrugated concrete sheet roof. The north end has a canted shape with a wagon entrance and double doors, and there are also double doors towards the left end of the main range, with lower double doors in the center. The main range has a mid-stray on the west side.
Inside, the barn consists of three bays at the north end, which are joined at a near right angle to a seven-bay southern range. It is aisled on the west and north sides. The 17th-century range has three bays with tie beams and curved braces. The 18th-century main range features a queen-post roof, wind braces, and curved braces to the wall posts, with a side purlin roof throughout.
