Description
This is a 17th-century barn located to the southeast of Birling Place. The barn is weather-boarded on the north, east, and west sides, while the south side features random rubble and brick. There is a large blocked brick arch with a wooden bressumer above it to the left of the wagon entrance on the south side. The wagon entrance is situated on the north side. The barn has a hipped roof covered with plain tiles. It includes jowled posts, primarily from the 17th and 18th centuries, and a queen truss roof structure, although the roof itself was replaced in the 20th century. The walls of Birling Place extend around the barn, and the arch appears to be part of these walls.
