Description

Birling Lodge is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick featuring blue headers, and has a plinth, a plat band, and a cornice at the parapet topped with moulded stone coping. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, and it includes three 19th-century gabled dormers with decorative barge boards. The building stands two storeys high and has a five-window front. The windows are 19th-century mullioned casements with square-headed dripmoulds. The central entrance is framed by a moulded surround leading to an arched doorway with an overlight. There are also 19th-century extensions at the rear.
