Description
Ferndale Cottage, also known as Bank Cottage, is a group of cottages dating from the 16th to 18th centuries. The west front features random and coursed galletted rubblestone, along with some brick and plaster, and there are indications of painted-over timbers. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, with an off-centre ridge stack located to the right. The building has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of three windows on both floors. There are central and left-hand doors, each with weather porches.
On the south front, the construction is similar, with random and coursed galletted rubblestone, some brick and plaster on the left, and a box-framed section with plaster infill on a random rubblestone plinth to the right. The hipped plain tiled roof has a hipped gable on the right side. This elevation features extremely irregular fenestration, with six windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor, all of which are casements, including one sliding window on the upper left. To the right, there is a one-storey extension with a hipped roof and a door located to the left of it.
