Description

This is an L-shaped barn range dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, located 50 meters east of North End Farmhouse in Cheriton. The barn is constructed with a timber frame, weatherboarded on a brick plinth, and features a corrugated iron roof. The barn opposite the farmhouse has eight bays and is aisled on the far side, with two midstrays located in the third and sixth bays from the right. There is a double door on the opposite side, with outshots between on the courtyard side. The roof is hipped on the right, while the left hip remains inside a later barn. Inside, the structure has a queen strut roof that was originally a queen post, featuring many reused timbers, straight braces, and wind braces. The aisle posts rest on plates on brick plinths, and there were originally no aisle ties.

At the left end, there is an 18th-century five-bay barn, which is also aisled on the outside, with a midstray in the center bay on both sides. This barn has 19th-century wide six-pane windows all around and a half-hipped roof. Additionally, there is an 18th-century dairy at the end, which is aisled and has a queen strut roof. Inside the dairy, there is a low queen strut roof with curved braces and wind braces.
