Description
Kipping Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with a 19th-century extension. It features a timber frame with brick infill and additions, as well as a weatherboarded end bay, and has thatched, tiled, and slated roofs. The building is L-shaped, with a two-bay 17th-century section facing the road, which has an outshot on the outer side. The 18th-century wing was added to the other side at the road end, with further extensions made in the 19th century.
The road-facing side is 1½ stories high and has a four-window range. The 18th-century entrance features a four-panel door in a solid frame with a baffle entry. There is a 19th-century four-panel door beneath a 20th-century timber porch. To the left, there are two 2-light casement windows, while to the right, there is a 19th-century 2-light segmental-headed casement and a similar window at the right end. To the right of the door, there is a large 19th-century 3-light segmental-headed casement. Above the right windows, there are two 19th-century 2-light hipped dormers. The right side of the roof is tiled and hipped, with a half-hipped end or rear, while the left side of the ridge is hipped. A stack is located in front of the ridge at the center.
