Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the early 17th century, with extensions and alterations from the 18th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with brick infill and brick, topped with a thatched roof that is half hipped at the ends. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the original 17th-century block running east-west, an 18th-century extension on the west end, and a 20th-century extension at right angles to the west end, along with an outshut to the north of the 17th-century block.
The cottage is one and a half storeys high and has three eaves dormers cut into the thatch on the south side. There is a ridge chimney in the center of the 17th-century block and another chimney in the center of the 20th-century block. On the south elevation, the 20th-century block projects forward to the left and features two 2-light casements above one French casement. The 18th-century extension has one 2-light casement and a door beneath a flat hood. To the right, the 17th-century block has two bays of timber framing with irregular 20th-century casements, including one 3-light metal casement in the left bay and one 1-light casement in the right bay, flanking a door in a gabled weatherboarded porch.
