Description
Barnes Thatch is a cottage that dates back to the 17th century and was extended in the 18th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill, and has a thatched roof. The building is 1 and a half storeys tall and consists of two 17th-century bays with 18th-century hip bays at each end. The front of the cottage has a 20th-century glazed door located under a hipped hood supported by posts, positioned on the far side of the center. There is also a 20th-century French window at the road end. In the bay with the French window, there is a 19th-century two-light cast-iron lattice-paned casement window, while the next bay features a three-light similar window. Beyond that is a 20th-century two-light casement window, and at the far end, there is a glazed door leading into a weatherboarded lean-to store. Above each bay, there are two or three-light casements set in eyebrow dormers. The roof is hipped and has a ridge piece, with chimney stacks positioned above the doors.
