Description

This is a house dating from the 17th century, with additions made in the late 18th century. The original core is timber-framed and was later encased in brick, while the later 18th-century additions are of brick with rendered surfaces and incised masonry lines. The roof is covered in old plain tiles. The house has a plan based on a 3-bay, double-pile 17th-century building with a projecting cross-wing, possibly from the 19th century, to the front of the end bay. A roughly L-shaped house, dating from around 1800, was added to the end and rear.

The front elevation features a 3-bay, 2-storey section dating from the 18th century, with a fourth bay to the right formed by the end bay of the 17th-century block. A lower 2-storey cross-wing is positioned to the left. The central 18th-century bay has a 6-panel double door beneath a flat-roofed Doric porch. Five large 16-pane sash windows are present. The roof extends over the fourth bay and is hipped, with a large ridge stack above the door. To the right of the cross-wing is a gabled section with 19th-century double 12-pane sash windows with segmental heads on both floors. A 5-light casement and 2 or 5-light hip-roofed dormers are found in each bay, with a buttress between. A large cruciform stack is centrally located between the different sections of the building.
