Description
This is a group of barns located 20 meters north of Hunts Farmhouse, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The barns are constructed with a timber frame, weatherboarded on a brick plinth, and feature a corrugated iron roof along with brick and slate lean-tos. The layout consists of two separate 17th-century barns that were later linked together.
One of the barns has five bays and includes a central midstray porch with a hipped roof. Each side of this barn has lean-tos with a central stable door and window. The right end of this barn has an 18th-century addition that extends it by two bays, maintaining a continuous half-hipped roof. The left end features a lower, one-and-a-half-storey, two-bay range with stable doors and mullioned windows, also topped with a half-hipped roof. Additionally, there is a three-bay infill between the two barns at the left end, which has a slate roof and a central stable door.
The barns are arranged at right angles, with one standing forward of the other 17th-century barn. This barn also has a central hipped midstray porch and a brick lean-to on one side, topped with a half-hipped roof. Inside the 17th-century barns, there are queen-post roofs with braces to the ties, while the other parts feature later, rougher roof trusses.
