SNODLAND CONSTITUTION HILL (north side) Woodlands Farmhouse

16.1.81

II* Hall-house, later farmhouse, now house. Early mid C15 with late C16 alterations and wing of c.1880. Timber-framed with plaster-infilling and curved braces on random stone plinth with brick cross-wing to right, plastered with mock timber-framing. Jetties over ground-floor at right and left of central block with central eaves recess on braces. Plain tiled roof with gablet to left, stack off-ridge to front at left and stack on cross-wing to right in re-entrant angle. Recessed wing to left of late C16, timber-framed, close-studded and plastered with lower hipped roofed red and blue brick C19 stable extension further to left. Two storeys throughout; irregular fenetration of six windows on first-floor and four windows on ground floor, with a two-storey square bay on the end of the cross-wing to right. Various leaded and wooden casements.

Interior: substantial evidence of timber-framing. Remnants of dais beam visible. Crown-post collar-purlins roof.
