Description

Old Roundel Barn is a former barn and roundel located in Trottiscliffe, Wrotham, on the north side of Water Lane. The east half of the barn may have been converted from a 16th-century cottage, while the west half dates from the 18th century. The roundel was added in the mid-19th century. The structure features red brick infilling to a timber frame set on a random rubble plinth. The roundel is also built of red brick on a rubble plinth. The barn has a hipped plain tiled roof, and the roundel has a plain tiled roof with a cowl and wind-vane. Inside, the barn has a braced roof and one bay from the east that is slightly arched. High up at the south end of the east wall, there are remains of a window with notches on diamond mullions.
