Description
The barn to the north-east of Wivenhoe Lodge is a mid-19th century agricultural building constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. It is dated 'NCC 1859' on its north gable. The barn features two east-facing midstreys, each with a gabled roof and original large doors. Between the midstreys, there is a timber wagon shelter consisting of four bays. The barn also includes drying vents with fixed wooden louvres, two of which are situated between the midstreys. The north range of the barn is a single storey with a ridged roof, featuring eight three-centred arches supported by stone capitals, extending from the west return of the barn. The roofs are made of pine and are clad in slate, incorporating collars, tie-beams, valley rafters, and purlins. The barn is part of a larger group of agricultural buildings.
